TAX ADVISER & ACCOUNTANT | HMRC AUTHORISED AGENT | COMPANIES HOUSE ACSP

London | Serving individuals and companies in the UK and overseas

The practice acts in matters that have a defined consequence: an assessment that stands unless it is appealed, a return that was never filed, a disclosure that is treated differently depending on when it is made. Most matters reach the practice after a deadline has passed, an error has come to light or an assessment has already been raised. Correspondence and representation are conducted on your behalf before HMRC and Companies House.

How the practice works

Matters are taken on individually. There are no fixed packages. The scope is defined by the facts of the matter, and the fee for each stage is confirmed in writing before that stage begins.

The position is established first. Work begins with a review of the documents and a written assessment of the position, the applicable time limits and the options that remain open. Nothing is submitted to HMRC or Companies House before that.

Fees are charged by time. Work is charged at an hourly rate, with fixed fees agreed for defined stages. The basis of charge is set out in the engagement letter.

Communication is in writing. Advice, instructions and correspondence are recorded, so that every position taken can be relied upon later.

Representation is direct. As an HMRC authorised agent, the practice corresponds with HMRC on the client's behalf and has access to the client's records held by HMRC.

Identity checks apply to every engagement. The practice is supervised by HMRC for anti-money laundering purposes, and identity and source-of-funds checks are carried out before work begins.

The services below are the areas in which the practice acts. Where a matter falls outside them, that is said at the outset rather than after the work has started.
